PER CAPITA DEBT

The amount of an issuer’s debt outstanding divided by the population residing within the issuer’s jurisdiction. This is often used as an indication of the issuer’s credit position because it can be used to compare the proportion of debt borne per resident with that borne by the residents of other issuers. See: DEBT RATIOS.
