RATE LOCK AGREEMENT

An agreement whereby an issuer who anticipates issuingĀ bonds at a future date can effectively lock in a specified interest rate. At the time of issue, the counter-party will make a payment to the issuer if interest rates have increased from the specified interest rate or the issuer will make a payment to the counter-party if interest rates have decreased from the specified interest rate.
