The MSRB has published a Discussion Paper on Disclosure in the Municipal Securities Market in anticipation of the MSRB's Disclosure Forum II (January 11-12, 2001).

December 6, 2000

The MSRB has released the final agenda for its Disclosure Forum II to be held in Washington, D.C. on January 11-12, 2001.

 

November 17, 2000

The MSRB is releasing a clarification of certain statements in its Notice and Draft Interpretive Guidance on Dealer Responsibilities in Connection with Both Electronic and Traditional Municipal Securities Transactions. The comment period on the draft guidance ends on December 1, 2000.

 

October24 , 2000

The MSRB will make the new Comprehensive Transaction Report available beginning on Wednesday, October 25, 2000. The first monthly report will include trades effected during September 2000. Backfile reports on CD-ROM will also be available, covering June 2000 onward. Instructions on subscribing are available here.

October 12, 2000

The Board is instituting a report of historical information on all transactions in municipal securities.  The report will be available on a delayed basis, once a month, covering the previous month’s trading.

The MSRB will hold an outreach meeting in Boston, MA, on Thursday, October 12, 2000.

 

September 19, 2000

The MSRB is requesting comment on the establishment of an optional system of electronic submissions by underwriters of official statements, advance refunding documents and Forms G-36(OS) and G-36(ARD) to the MSRB under rule G-36.

September 15, 2000

The Board is announcing the election of its Chairman and Vice Chairman for its 2001 fiscal year.

The MSRB will host its second Disclosure Forum on January 11-12, 2001, in Washington, D.C.

The Board has announced that it will publish in September a notice regarding dealer responsibilities in connection with municipal securities transactions in electronic trading systems and a notice regarding draft amendments to allow electronic submission of rule G-36 documents.

The Board has elected five new members whose terms will begin on October 1, 2000.

The MSRB has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission an amendment to its previously filed proposed rule changes relating to municipal fund securities.

The MSRB has filed with the SEC technical amendments to rules G-8 and G-15. The technical amendments become operative on September 19, 2000.

June 22, 2000

The Securities and Exchange Commission has approved an amendment to rule G-36(c)(i) relating to official statements prepared in connection with most primary offerings exempt from Exchange Act Rule 15c2-12.

June 15, 2000

The Board has filed a proposed rule change regarding rule G-14 to institute a report of all transactions in municipal securities. The report would be made available on a delayed basis, once a month, covering the previous month's trading.

May 2, 2000

The MSRB has filed with the SEC technical amendments to rules A-3, G-15, G-17 and G-18. The technical amendments become operative on June 1, 2000.

April 28, 2000

The MSRB has announced the panelists who will discuss electronic trading systems at the MSRB's May 5th Roundtable Discussion in New York.

April 27, 2000

The Securities and Exchange Commission has approved an amendment to rule A-13 to institute a fee on dealers' sales to customers. Trades effected on or after May 1, 2000 will be subject to the fee.

April 12, 2000

The registration form is available for the MSRB Roundtable Discussion--Electronic Trading Systems for Municipal Securities: Regulatory Issues. The Roundtable Discussion will be held in New York City on May 5, 2000, at the Marriott World Trade Center located at Three World Trade Center. There is no fee to attend, but advance registration is required.

The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board has filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission proposed rule changes relating to municipal fund securities.

April 4, 2000

The MSRB has announced that it will host a Roundtable Discussion in New York City on Friday, May 5, regarding regulatory issues arising from electronic trading systems for municipal securities.

March 24, 2000

The Securities and Exchange Commission has approved amendments to Board rules concerning supervisory procedures for the review of correspondence with the public. The amendments will become effective on September 19, 2000.

March 6, 2000

The Board has released its final agenda for the Forums on Hospital Finance Disclosure being held on March 13, 2000 in New York City and March 17, 2000 in San Francisco, California. The agenda includes a full listing of panelists, including Paul Maco of the SEC's Office of Municipal Securities and representatives of several major hospital systems, leading health care investment banking and bond counsel firms, and other significant participants in the hospital finance sector. In addition, the agenda reflects the addition of a lunch panel focusing on disclosure and the primary market. Registration forms are available at http://www.msrb.org

February 7, 2000

The MSRB has filed a proposed change to rule A-13, on underwriting and transaction assessments. The proposed rule change would institute a fee assessment on the customer sales transaction activities of dealers.

February 1, 2000

The Board has filed amendments to rules G-38 and G-8 regarding the reporting of consultants' names and roles.

January 24, 2000

The MSRB will be hosting Forums on Hospital Finance Disclosure on Monday, March 13, 2000, in New York City and Friday, March 17, 2000, in San Francisco, California.

The MSRB has released certain statistical information on transaction patterns in the municipal securities market. These data are based on trade information submitted to the MSRB's Transaction Reporting System for the period May 1998 - April 1999.

January 7, 2000

On January 7, 2000, the Board filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission amendments to rules G-8, on books and records, G-9, on preservation of records, and G-27, on supervision, regarding the supervision, review, and retention of correspondence with the public.

January 6, 2000
