MSRB Outreach Meeting

The MSRB will hold an outreach meeting in Chicago, Illinois, at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5.  The purpose of the meeting is to give members of the municipal bond community in and around Chicago the opportunity to hear about MSRB objectives and initiatives and to discuss any matters of concern.  Dealers, investors, and issuers are invited to share their views with members of the MSRB Board and staff.

The Host Committee of this meeting includes one of our third-year members – James P. Fitzgerald, Managing Director, Municipal Fixed Income, Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc.  Other members of the Host Committee are Richard Ciccarone, Senior Vice President, Co-Manager Fixed Income, Van Kampen, Inc., Chicago, Illinois; Thomas J. Glaser, Chief Financial Officer, Cook County, Illinois; Walter Knorr, Chief Financial Officer, City of Chicago; Jane McCart, Senior Vice President, Northern Trust Global Investments, Chicago, Illinois; Suzanne Shank, President and CEO, Siebert, Brandford Shank & Co., LLC, Detroit, Michigan (and MSRB Board member); and David G. Williams, Attorney at Law, Chapman & Cutler, Chicago, Illinois.  Other Board members participating in the meeting will be Dan Keating (Bear Stearns), MSRB Chair 2000-2001 and Tom Stanberry (US Bancorp Piper Jaffray) MSRB Vice Chair 2000-2001.  MSRB staff members Kit Taylor (Executive Director) and Hal Johnson (Deputy General Counsel) will also be attending.

The meeting will be held at the Metropolitan Club, 233 W. Wacker Drive on the 67th Floor, in the East Room.  Refreshments will be served following a presentation by MSRB Board and staff members.  Anyone wishing to attend should contact Pat Mack at (202) 223-9347, ext. 3313 or by e-mail at pmack@msrb.org.

The MSRB expects to hold additional outreach meetings in other cities.  Tentative plans call for holding another outreach meeting in New York City in September, 2001.  “These meetings are an important way for members of the muni bond community and the MSRB to reach a common understanding of the issues facing our industry,” said MSRB Chairman Dan Keating.
