Jacob Lesser

General Counsel

Jacob Lesser is General Counsel for the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB), where he leads the team responsible for governance and corporate legal matters. Prior to joining the MSRB as Associate General Counsel, Jake was a director at Promontory Financial Group, where he advised clients on a wide range of securities-related regulatory, compliance and enforcement issues. From 2004–2011, Jake served in the Office of General Counsel at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), most recently as associate general counsel. There he counseled the Board and staff on legal and policy matters related to the PCAOB’s oversight of public company auditors. Earlier in his career, Jake spent seven years at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), first as an enforcement lawyer in the New York office and then in the Office of General Counsel’s Legal Policy group. 

Jake earned a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University and a law degree from Boston College Law School.
