MUNICIPAL SECURITIES RULEMAKING BOARD ANNOUNCES WEBINARS
ON 529 COLLEGE SAVINGS PLAN DOCUMENT SUBMISSION

Alexandria, VA –  The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) announced today it will host two training webinars on June 9 and 10, 2010 designed to assist individuals responsible for submitting disclosure documents and data associated with 529 college savings plans to the MSRB’s Electronic Municipal Market Access (EMMA) system. The MSRB is committed to ensuring ongoing compliance with MSRB rules and the rules of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, including Rule 15c2-12, which requires certain submissions to the MSRB.

The webinars, which will last for approximately one hour, will provide training for individuals who submit 529 college savings plan disclosure documents and data to EMMA. Each session will cover the submission of primary market disclosures (plan disclosure documents) and continuing disclosure documents, such as annual financial reports. The sessions also will cover MSRB Gateway, the secure access point for all MSRB services.

There is no cost to participate in any of the sessions but pre-registration is required. Click on the links below or visit the “Events and Training” section of www.msrb.org to register for one of the sessions.

In conjunction with the webinars, the MSRB plans to publish a new 529 College Savings Plan Disclosure Submission Manual. The manual is tailored to the 529 college savings plan market, using terminology familiar to market participants. New primary distributors, issuers, or agents of 529 college savings plans will have a single source of information on the entire registration and submission process.

The manual will combine the primary market and continuing disclosure process and also will include appendices that explain the process for registering with the MSRB as a primary market and continuing disclosure submitter. The manual, available by June 9, 2010, will be published on www.msrb.org in the Publications User Manual section and on EMMA at www.emma.msrb.org under the “EMMA Dataport” tab.
