MSRB OFFERS FREE COURSE ON STRUCTURING A
FIXED-RATE MUNICIPAL BOND TRANSACTION

Washington, DC - To support the educational needs of municipal securities professionals who structure fixed-rate municipal bond transactions, the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) today released a free online course specifically designed for understanding this process. “Municipal Bond Math Basics” provides practice scenarios for confirming the accuracy of cash flows associated with fixed-rate transactions.

“We are excited to provide a course to municipal market participants that really dives into the quantitative procedures of structuring these transactions,” said MSRB President and CEO Lynnette Kelly. “It’s an inside look into the day-to-day work of a public finance investment banking analyst.”

The course, part of the MSRB’s free catalog of interactive, online MuniEdPro® courses, was developed with input from industry professionals. Participants will learn the structures, assumptions and key concepts related to fixed-rate municipal bond transactions.

MuniEdPro® is a catalog of interactive, online courses designed specifically for municipal market participants. The courses provide content relevant to municipal market activities and MSRB regulations. Each MuniEdPro® course provides real-world simulations that allow the learner to understand municipal securities transactions and the related market and regulatory considerations.

The MSRB provides multiple ways to access MuniEdPro®, including both individual and firm access. The MSRB accommodates file types for organizations and firms that seek to integrate courses into their own learning management system. Learn more about the ways to access here.
